Welcome To The Blog

Now that Football Manager 10 has been released I have been inspired to post a blog about my progress managing Queens Park Rangers. I have played several of the previous versions with varying degrees of success, although I did begin to get the hang of things in the last few months before the release of this latest version.

It provides many major enhancements, which definitely make things a lot easier to get to grips. The addition of being able to interact with the backroom staff when setting up the team tactics is very welcome. Having played the demo version for a couple of weeks, I was able to setup decent tactics according to the strengths of the squad a lot quicker. Fine tuning is of course needed after that, but a compatible tactic for the team was achieved much sooner than in FM09, which seemed to very hard without lots of experimentation and searching for advice.

I will be managing Queens Park Rangers, in the English Championship, with a media prediction of 10th place. This means that automatic promotion is unlikely, however achieving it via the playoffs is a distinct possibility. Playing safe, I have selected the season target as achieving top half finish, giving me a £6 million budget. I would be disappointed if we don't make at least make the playoffs, but at least if I fail, I shouldn't get the sack, unless something goes horribly wrong.
