2009/2010 Season Round-up, England

Premiership

The top six were:
  1. 90 points - Chelsea
  2. 84 points - Manchester United
  3. 73 points - Manchester City
  4. 72 points - Arsenal
  5. 72 points - Liverpool
  6. 59 points - Tottenham
As a QPR fan this is of course nothing short of a disaster. I also have a strong dislike of Man United, which means from my view point the champions were the worst of two evils.

Relegated from the division were Wolves, Portsmouth and Stoke. Portsmouth were deducted 9 points during the season for going into administration, even without that deduction they would have still been relegated on goal difference.

Championship

The top six were:
  1. 105 points - Newcastle
  2. 95 points - Queens Park Rangers
  3. 82 points - Reading
  4. 81 points - West Brom
  5. 78 points - Cardiff
  6. 75 points - Sheffield United
Newcastle and QPR gained automatic promotion, with Reading gaining promotion by beating West Brom in the playoff final.

The relegated teams from the division were, Crystal Palace, Blackpool and Preston.

League One

The top six:
  1. 96 points - Huddersfield
  2. 92 points - Charlton
  3. 89 points - Leeds
  4. 88 points - Millwall
  5. 83 points - Hartlepool
  6. 80 points - Southampton
Huddersfield and Charlton gained automatic promotion, with Leeds gaining promotion by beating Millwall in the playoff final.

The relegated teams from the division were Carlisle, Exeter, Brentford and Yeovil.

It should be noted that Southampton started the season with a 10 point deduction.

League Two

The top seven:
  1. 99 points - Notts County
  2. 92 points - Northampton
  3. 90 points - Rotherham
  4. 89 points - Bury
  5. 75 points - Torquay
  6. 74 points - Morecambe
  7. 74 points - Bradford
Notts County, Northampton and Rotherham gained automatic promotion, with Morecambe gaining promotion by beating Bury in the playoff final.

Darlington and Barnet were relegated from the league.

Oxford United won the Blue Square Premier league to gain promotion to the league, along with Cambridge United, who won via the playoffs.

League Cup

Man United beat Liverpool 4-0 to gain the League Cup in what appears to have been a one sided final.

FA Cup

Tottenham beat the surprise league one finalists Southampton 1-0. Southampton pulled off many shocks on the way to the final, but could not break down a Tottenham defence which did not concede a single goal during their cup run.

European Champions Cup

Chelsea beat Juventus by a 3-1 scoreline to win the trophy, to cap a tremendous season in which they were Premier League champions.

EURO Cup

Wolfsburg beat Sport CP by 1-0.

Any further details anyone wants to know, just ask and if it's available I'll add it in.

I am currently in the pre-season phase of the new season, attempting to bringing in new signings during the time of playings friendlies. This will probably take a few days, as I've been working scouts extremely hard in the search for new players.
